The Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, said it very commendable that the residents ' viof Whakarewaf-ewa were alive to their tv'civjc responsibilities and were prepared tp raise sucb a sum in support of their -wjth the Minister of Native Affairs the J Government was. prepared to give £9OO .toward the cost of sewerage at Wlia- • karewarewa. Work would begin as f- soon as plans were completed. It was that the sewerage -work would 1 cost about £2OOO. _ A scheme for diverting the hot stream : \vhich flows from the Kuirau Tool at - Ohinenuitu was approved. It will remove ? "the danger caused by steam obscuring the l ylcw of motorists on the main road near Obinerni'lii and will not interfere with v the natives' rights to use the flowing hot .v Water for washing purposes.
