GISBORME VISIT CONCLUDED COMMENT ON QUALITY OF LAND. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 GISBORNE, Friday.
Members of the Railways Board concluded their visit to the Gisb'orne. district this morning when they left. fw Napier.
" While we aro nofc in a position to make any statement as to the nature of our report," said the chairman of tfaa board, Mr. J. J. Esson, " I think members of the board have been deeply impressed 'with the quality of the la Q< k The developmental value of the line will have due consideration when our general, conclusions are being formulated." The board had been changed with the responsibility of considering every aspect of various railway projects, he added, and members would certainly not overlook the influence which the completion of the railway might exert upon the prosr perity of Poverty Bay. The comments of the chairman regarding the excellence of the land and stock seen in the district were supported by other members of the board. The Hon. E. Newman described the country seen during the trip to Tolaga Bay as magni ficent, and he commented upon the 18 suits of swamp land improvement and hill top ploughing.
