FILM FROM POPULAR SONG.
The Radio Picture Company has decided to send Richard Dix and a company of fifteen to Spain to film scenes for " Marcheta," based on Victor Schertzinger's famous song. Mr, Schertzinger will direct the production. < Irene Dunne, who won film fame in " C«narron," will play the leading feminine role, and will make the trip to Spain with the company. Scenes will be taken in Madrid and Barcelona. The company will leave after the completion of " The Sphinx Has which Victor Schertzinger is directing for Radio. Mr. Schertzinger announced- that he. would make his headquarters at Madrid, and stay there long enough to photograph and record the world-renowned guitar symphony of 60 pieces. This sytnpnony, he explained, is the only one of its kind in existence and is the most typical Spanish musical institution in the kingdom. It will be used throughout the picture to lend colour and musical charin to the, story which Schertzinger hp's worked out in collaboration with Louis Stevens, author of one of last year's best sellers, <* All the King's Horses." Schertzinger, who came to Radio Pictures to produce at least three features within a year, is one of the best known composers in the country. " Marcheta," which is the theme of the forthcoming film of the same title, sold^approximately two million copies—one of the most phenomenal song sales ever recorded in the United States. Apart from his musical activities, he is one of „Hollywood's foremost directors, with 76 film features to his credit. 1
