JUMP INTO BURNING KILN
The bravest deed of 1930 was adjudged ™ be that of an Ulster man, Mr. Bernard Gilmurrav, of Templeneffrin, Belcoo, County Fermanagh, who jumped into a burning limekiln to rescue a man. Mr. Giiinnrray's deed was the only one 144 reported to the Carnegie Hero Arustees during 1930 to be considered Worthy of. the highest award the trustees can give—their bronze medallion. , The kiln, 25ft. deep, was filled to with- " a foot of the top with burning coals a,, d limestone when a workman fell in ' became buried up to the knees. Mr. umurray, tho manager, armed with a >°vel, jumped in to the rescue. It took J? 20 minutes to free the man.
