NORTHCOTE WOMEN.
The monthly meeting of the Northcote Women's Progressive League, held in the parish hall, was well attended.'; The. president. Mrs. D. P. O'Leary, who occupied the chair, received a cordial welcome after her recent illness.
the business of the National Council of i Women was reported upon by Mrs. P. Howden, who submitted for discussion a remit from the council " that girls over the age of 12 years be taught solely by., women teachers." Discussion elicited that the majority of the members did not favour this proposal. A very interesting address was given by (he kev. W. G. Monckton on " The Reason of the World-wide Depression." The lecturer was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and appreciation at the clpse of his informative talk.
