INTENSIVE PRODUCTION.
HAWKE'S BAY RESULTS, The fields instructor of the Department, of Agriculture at Hastings reports tho case of u Pakipaki farmer who successfully harvested, two crops off a 26-acre paddock between October and January during the past season. The area was sown down in the autumn of 1930 with two bushels of certified perennial ryegrass and one bushel of barley an acre. It was consistently grazed from July until October, when the paddock was shut up, top-dressed with 2cwt. ammoniated super and 10cwt. lime an acre, and irrigated. A splendid growth resulted, which was cut for ensilage, commencing on November 20. The crop viekled approximately 175 tons silage. The paddock was immediately top-dressed with Icwt- amuioniated. super, irrigated afresh, and closed up tor seed about the beginning of December. Ihe crop was cut toward the end of January, a yield of 90 sacks of seed obtained. The aftermath came away well and in February was carrying over 00 dairy cows, day grazing.
