DISABLED LAUNCH.

STEAMER NOTICES SIGNALS.

SMALL CRAFT TOWED TO PORT.

[by telegraph.—own correspondent.]

WANGANUI, "Wednesday,

Tho old steam launch Advance which was recently fitted with petrol engines and which traded in Auckland waters and on tho Waikato River for many years, was completely disabled last night 12 miles from Wanganui Heads. The launch's S.O.S. signals were answered by the Titoki, en route from Greymouth, and after considerable difficulty tho Advance was taken in tow and brought safely into port. The sea was rough at the time, with a strong easterly wind and had tho Titoki not appeared opportunely, disaster might have followed.

A few years ago the Advance was purchased from tho Waikato by the Wanganui Gravel Company, but was never used. She was recently purchased by Mr. F. Freeman and refitted for fishing purposes.
