NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. NARROWER GROUNDS SUGGESTED. [by telegraph.—fress association.] WELLINGTON, "Wednesday. At the meeting: of the Council of the New Zealand Football Association .last evening, the chairman, Mr, F. Campbell, referring to the 6maller grounds, suggested that associations should. consider reducing the width of the grounds from 75yds. to 65yds. or GSyda. A reduction of about 12ft. ou either sido, ho eaid, would -make a lot of difference in brightening up the play. He added that the reduced width would make corners more dangerous improve tho chances of scoring goals. A player could then place tho ball instead of "belting it He moved that the associations be asked to consider tho making of the grounds not injore than 110 yds. by GSyda., and it was agreed to writo to tho associations on the lines suggested. Mr. 11. M. Beswick. Auckland, wrote that he had been appointed secretary and treasurer to tho Schools' Association. Neither tho primary nor tho secondary schools' associations could affiliate with provincial associations and were not definitely domiciled under any one association. It was suggested that the three bodieß might nffiliato direct with the New Zealand Football Association. The chairman suggested that the Primary Schools' Association and the Secondary Schools' Association in the North Island and tho South Island should bo invited to affiliate direct with the New Zealand Association, and that tho combined bodies should have one delegate to represent them on tho New Zealand Council. The matter could bo considered by the primary associations when the tournament was held. Tho secretary was instructed to writo tho four organisations accordingly. A challenge from Canterbury for the I'.A. trophy was accepted.

An inter-club match under the control of the Auckland Badminton Association was played between tho Parnoll nnd St. Aidan'e Clubs, tho former winning by 12 games to 0.
