TIIO Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe,' and the Lady Bledisloe arrived aVQpotiki from Rotorua at 1.25 p.m. to-day and were greeted by a very', large crowd.. They had luncheon at the Masonic-Hotel when the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. J. Thompson,/and the-county chairman, Mr. J. R. Reid, and Mfs, : Reid were the guests of Their Excellencies'. • • • Owing to the' wet weather : the Official welcome was held in the De Luxe Theatre instead of at the school. The building was packed to the doors with adults and school children from all over the district, and Girl Guides and Scouts, who provided a guard of honour. When' the Vice-Regal party entered the hall a welcome in Maori was given by a band of Maoris in native costume. Addresses oi welcome' were given by the Mayor'.and Mayoress, Mr.- Re'idj and'MrJ K: S.
