ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

VICTORY OF WELLINGTON. RETURN' MATCH SUGGESTED. CHATHAM CUP COMPETITION. The control board of the Auckland Football Association at a meeting held last evening decided to write congratulating Ihc Wellington Association on its success in the English Trophy contest, and also to ask if the Wellington Association would be prepared to accept a return challenge on a dale to be arranged. The chairman, Dr. N. McDougall, presided. The following dates were notified by the New Zealand Association for the Chatham Cup competition:—Juno 20, Wanganui v. Manawatu, at Palmerston North: July 18, local finalists to bo found at Auckland, South Auckland, Wellington, Wesilund, Canterbury and Otago : July 25, winner of Manawatu-Wanganui game v. Wellington finalists, at cither Wanganui or Palmerston North; July 25, Westland winners v. Canterbury winners, at Ciroymouth; July 25, Auckland winnors v. South Auckland winners, at Hamilton: August 15, winners of Auckland v. winners of Wellington match, at either Hamilton or Auckland; August 15 winnera of Canterbury-Westland match v. Otago finalists. The date for the North Island finalists v. South Island finalists has not yet boen fixed

A letter was received from the Navy, thanking the association for its congratulations on the former'fl win in tho recent match with tho Auckland representatives. The association's suggestion of a return match was an acceptable one and. if a suitable date ' could be arranged between September 4 and l'J, it was probablo that the match could be staged.

.Tho senior division committee advised that the Auckland clubs competing in the Chatham Cup competition were willing to pool tlio gate money received from such matches, if any, and present it, to the local finalist. ' Tho also suggested that championship matches in tho second round whero Chatham Cup teams wero competing bo also Chatham Cup matches, 'She series of games to be altered to suit. Hie matter was left to tho grounds committee. It was resolved that entries for the Falcon Cup competition should close on June It was decided to recommend to the senior division committee that the Senior Cup be given to the senior reserve grade for a knock-out competition.
