When Whole Wheat Would Have Saved Four In the construction of the Madeira-Mamore Railway, connecting Bolivia with Brazil, South America, in 1914, four thousand men died - - literally starved to death on food! mU WfJi I n THEY ate and ate, and starved to death. Their diet consisted solely of refined impoverished, dcmincralised foods, from which the minerals and vitamins had been removed. But no one, not even the doctors, understood those signals. Gradually they wasted away, until nothing remained but bones and skin. And then they died. Medicines and drugs had no effect.
