PAPATOETOE INTERESTS.
POSTAL FACILITIES. The Papatoetoe Chamber of Commerce tlecided last evening to request the Post nnd Telegraph Department to arrange for a direct mail bag between Papatoetoo and Otahuhu, on the ground that the volume of business would warrant it. It was stated that local residents preferred to do their banking business in the city rather than, in Otahuhu bank branches; mainly 011 account of the delay in postal services. A resolution was passed urging the Government to advance funds to the Unemployment Board to permit of the con tinuance of relief schtrne No. 5-
Information regarding recruiting for thn new defence force was submitted by the chairman, who stated that recruits from the district would be posted to "D" Company of the Waikato Regiment. A reso luiion was passed urging chambers of commerce, employers and eligible young men to promote tho establishment of the new force. It was decided to authorise the vice president,. Mr. II 0 Webster, to convene a meeting of shopkeepers for the purpose of discussing ways and means of stimulating business in the township, a
