BUS SERVICE CURTAILED. BUCKLAND ROAD ROUTE. A recommendation to reduce the service on the Buckland Road bus route, thereby effecting a saving of £3OOO a year, was adopted by the Auckland Transport Board at'its meeting yesterday. The manager, Mr. A. E. Ford, reported that since the opening of the Three Kings tramway extension, which runs parallel to part of the route, the earnings on the bus route had fallen off, and at present averaged- 9.05 d a bus mile. Prior to the opening of the extension the bus earnings averaged 11.78 d a bus mile. The present service on Buckland Road was a 35-min-utes and 25-minutes service during the morning and afternoon respectively, and a 10-minutee service during the peak periods. He recommended that the service be reduced to an hourly one throughout the day, with a 20-minutes service during the peak loading periods. The recommendation was adopted. The board voted £lO 10s toward the presentation which it is proposed to make to Mr. G. Baildon in recognition of his services to the citv.

Amended time-tables submitted by Suburban Buses, Limited, were approved. That for the ' City-Te Papapa service affected the running during slack hours only, while that for the SandringhamWaikowhai Park service had been adjusted to connect with the tram service. In view of the decision of the Town Planning Board in' the appeal against the City Council's refusal to approve of the plan, of subdivision of the Ponsonby depot site as it affected lots 10, 11 and 12:, it was decided' to have an amended plan prepared for submission to the council for its approval.
