TERRIFIED HORSE.
CHARGE INTO MOTOR-CAR. ANIMAL KILLED INSTANTLY. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Monday. A horse was killed and a motor-car damaged yesterday in an unusual accident on the Mountain Road, near the Ngaere railway crossing. Mr. A. Yarndley was driving in the direction of Stratford when two horses appeared galloping toward him. One charged into the car being killed almost instantly by the impact.
It was then discovered that the dead horse had a garden rake entangled in its tail with the handle trailing behind. The irritation caused by the rake had maddened the horse to such an extent that it failed to see the car.
