TUNNELLERS RESUME WORK
DECISION AT ARAPUNI. CONTRACTS TO BE REVIEWED. [from our own correspondent.] HAMILTON, Mondny. The tunnellers employed at Arapuni, who ceased operations as a protest against the Government's decision to reduce their rates of pay, and as an act of sympathy with tunnellers elsewhere, have resumed work.
The men received the following telegram from the National Union of Workers:— "Conference decision: Men report for work immediately. Service and holiday privileges bridged. An engineer and a representative of the union will visit all jobs early to review all contracts. Reply if the foregoing is accejjtable to your section." A meeting of the men affected was held immediately. It was agreed that the decision of the union be accepted and the men have reported for work. About 30 men are concerned. The operations at the site of the falls have reached a stage where any hold-up on that section would delay the work of concreting the lower levels.
