ASSAULT ON PAWNBROKER
TWO MEN PLEAD GUILTY. ONE ADMITS SECOND CHARGE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN. Monday. By stating in tho Polico Court to-day that Rupert Saunders could have had nothing to do with tho assault of Mrs. Jano Rossiter, Thomas William Wilson cleared his companion of that charge in connection with tho sensational attempt at robbery at Rossiter's shop on the night of May 11. In his original statement Wilson declared that it Was Saunders who attacked Mrs. Rossiter. This morning both Wilson and Saunders pleaded guilty to assaulting Walter Gabriel Rossiter, pawnbroker and jeweller, with intent to rob, while Wilson also pleaded guilty to a second charge of doing grievous bodily harm to Jtine Rossiter. This latter churgo against Saunders was withdrawn.
Both men wero committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
