MATCH AT GLOUCESTER. COUNTY OUT CHEAPLY. CROMB BOWLS FINELY. RAIN CAUSES DELAYS. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Special to N.Z. Press Association.) (Received June 13, 1.15 a.m.) LONDON. June 12. The match between the New Zealand cricketers and Gloucestershire at Gloucester, in which tho county yesterday lost four wickets for 55 runs, was resumed this morning, and they were all dismissed to-day for 128. Owing to rain play was not begun yesterday until 2.15 p.m., on a sodden wicket and further rain at 4 p.m. caused play to bo abandoned for the day. The teams aro as follows: New Zealand. Gloucestershire. Lowry. Hammond. Blunt. Parker. Cromb. Dipper. Dempster. Sinfield. James. Smith. Merritt. Dacre. Mills. Goddard. Page. Barnett. Talbot. Neale. Weir. Stevens. Vivian. Rogers. Hammond won tho toss and the county batted. Although tho greasy ball and a slippery foothold hampered the bowlers, Cromb and Blunt both struck form. Sinfield was caught off a bumping ball from Cromb by Lowry at short-leg and Dipper was dismissed shortly after by a brilliant catch in tho same position off a powerful hook shot. Lowry just failed to hold an even more difficult catch from Hammond at midoff, but Neale was out to a fine catch by Cromb at backward point. Dacre, who was received with applause by the New Zealanders, returned an easy catch to Cromb. Hammond batted for 50 minutes for six runs. When play was resumed this morning fine bowling by Cromb and Merritt enabled the visitors to dismiss the county cheaply. The weather had cleared, and the wicket was dead. Hammond made a better showing, but was unable to play Cromb with confidence. Stephens batted soundly. Cromb swung the ball well. He bowled 50 overs, of which 14 were maidens. Jackson, also had a good batting averago. Mitchell bad the best bowling average, with Slater second. This year A. W. Richardson succeeded Jackson as captain. They are a fine fielding side and possess a very capable wicket-keeper in Elliott, who has played in representative matches.' ' Mitchell, a right-handed slow bowler, can impart a lot of spin to the ball and needs careful watching. Ho obtained 12 wickets for 30 runs against Sussex this season. Alderman and Storer, both professional Association players, are capable batsmen. On the previous New Zealand tour Dacre bit a spectacular century on this ground.
