MARRIAGE REPEATED.

NOVEL CELEBRATION. OLD COUPLE'S HAPPY IDEA. By being " married again" Mr. and Mrs. George Alp, of Gatoshead, England, recently celebrated in a novel and happy stylo tho 55th anniversary of their wedding. They went through a special service of thanksgiving at tho same hour and in tho same church as the original ceremony to celebrate their long and happy association. The bride of 187&—to-day a charming woman of 74—carried a bouquet of tulips and daffodils as she did 55 years ago. There was an amusing incident as the couple left the church. A little child called out to her mother, " I want to seo the bride," and was astonished when Mrs. Alp bent and kissed her. The Rector of Gateshead, Canon Stephenson) who conducted the ceremony, kissed the " bride," saying as he did so, "It is my privilege," A service to celebrate a long and happy marriage is an innovation in ecclesiastical practice. Canon Stephenson stated that it was suggested to him by the husband. " I have never heard of such a service before," he remarked, " but it is a happy idea."
