MOTOR-CYCLE ACCIDENTS.

PEDESTRIAN BADLY INJURED. KNOCKED DOWN IN CITY STREET. Severe injuries to the head were received by Mr. Joseph Eden, aged 74, a resident of Dargaville, when he was struck by a motor-cycle as he was crossing Ilobson Street at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The injured man, who is believed to have been staying in Hobson Street, was on a holiday visit to Auckland. The accident occurred near the intersection of Victoria Street. A motor-cycle, ridden by Mr. Charles Riidd, of 10, Cecil Road, Epsom, was travelling down Hobson Street.' As it approached Mr. Eden stepped forward and then hesitated, according to eye-witnesses.. He was struck by the cycle when it was near the middle of the road and was knocked down heavily. The rider of the cycle was also thrown violently and was picked up in a dazed state. Both men were taken to the Auckland Hospital by the St. John Ambulance, Mr. Eden being admitted in a semi-conscious condition. He was found to have a fractured skull and other head injuries. His condition was reported last evening to be very serious. CASE IN GREAT NORTH ROAD. ANOTHER PEDESTRIAN INJURED. When crossing the Great North Road near the Western Springs stadium shortly before 10 p.m. yesterday, Mr. Thomas Armstrong, aged 58, married, whose home is at 36, Great North Road, was struck by a motor-cycle and knocked down. He received severe injuries to the head and was taken in a motor-car to the Auckland Hospital, where his condition later was reported to be serious. When the accident occurred, Mr. Armstrong, who emerged from the small sideroad which leads to the stadium, was commencing to cross the main road, while the motor-cycle was being ridden toward the city. COLLISION WITH A CAR. RIDER'S LEG FRACTURED. A collision between a motor-car and a motor-cycle at the intersection of Lake Road and King Edward Avenue, Belmont, at about 6 p.m. yesterday resulted in the rider of the cycle, Mr. Theodore Hankins, aged 25, being admitted to the Auckland Hospital suffering from a compound fracture of the right leg. Mr. Hankins, who resides at 29, Hine moa Avenue, Devonport, was travelling along Lake Road toward Takapuna, while the car, which was driven by Mrs. Keat ing, of Takapuna, was coming from that direction and turned to the right toward Birkenhead. The two vehicles met at the bend, the motor-cyclist being thrown heavily. He was attended by Dr. G Stewart, of Takapuna, and later was taken to the hospital in the North Shore ambulano#.
