NO BIRTHDAY HONOURS.
EFFECT OF ECONOMIC CRISIS. FOLICY REMAINS UNCHANGED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. No change of policy is involved in the fact that no birthday honours have been conferred on New Zealanders this year. This was made clear by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, today. ' 'No recommendations were sent forward this year," he said, "for i\ was felt that with the depression and serious economic crisis the matter was one that could well stand over until tho next opportunity. That is tho New Year. We felt that with the reductions in salaries, tho drop in prices and the serious financial difficulties tho matter might well wait. "There is no change of policy involved. It is merely a matter of the suitability of the times."
