OBITUARY.
MRS. H. YALDER,

HAMILTON, Tuesday
The death occurred at her residence, River Road, this afternoon of Mrs. Ellen Valder, a very well-known resident of Hamilton, at the ago of 64. Mrs. Valder, who had been ill for some time, was (he wife of Mr. _Henry \ alder, managing director of Ellis and Burnand, Limited, timber merchants. She was born in Maidstone, Kent, England, and came to New Zealand* with her husband in 1900. After living for three years in Remuern, they removed to Hamilton, where they have since lived.
During her long residence in the town, Mrs. Valder was actively associated with a great number of social and charitable organisations and was prominently associated with the Anglican Church. She was one of the leaders in women's movements in Hamilton and a founder of the local branch of the National Council of Women, of which she was president for the past 18 years. She was also a member of the Waikalo Hospital Board for several years, resigning about four years ago. Among other organisations, Mrs. Valder was president of the Claudelanda Women's Guild and a member of the Lyceum Club. In recognition of her work for the National Council of Women sho was recently appointed a life vice-presi-dent of the Dominion executive. • She is survived by her husband and three daughters, Misses M., N. and. L.i Valder, all of Haniillon.
