NOVEL PROPOSAL.
EXECUTIVE FOR COUNCIL. MOUNT EDEN DISCUSSION. A proposal which came before the Mount Eden Borough Council last evening to constitute an executive committee consisting of the Mayor and the chairmen of the Finance and Works Committees to deal with minor but urgent questions was withdrawn indefinitely. It was suggested by Mr. F. S. Baltley, and received the approval of the Mayor, Mr. T. McNab, and the majority of councillors.
Mr. J. J. Mulvihill said he thought there was no necessity for an executive, which would bo contrary to the spirit of the council.
Mrj W. H. Nagle said it would be preferable to defer the proposal until the council was in complete agreement as to the need of preventing a delay of several weeks in dealing with urgent questions. Major questions of urgency would not be within the scope of the committee, but would be considered by the council.
