GRAND CANYON WINS.

FIRST FLIGHT RUNS SECOND. SURPRISE IN SPRINT EVENT. Favourites had a very fair innings at the Waikato Trotting Club's meeting at Claudelands, Hamilton, on Saturday, winning four races and being second twice and third twice, so that they were never out of a place. Grand Canyon scored a decisive win in the Waikato Handicap and Gaza led from end to end in the sprint race, the Waipa Handicap. The weather was fine and the cvrse in excellent order, good times being i\» orded. There was a fair attendance. They were:—A bay gelding (by Triumph Junior from Our Thorpe—Agnita mare), sold for 7 guineas, to Mr. O. Rees, of Auckland; a bay gelding (by Great Audubon from Belgium Queen), for 61 guineas, to Mr. W. J. Wheeler, of Auckland.
