CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.
TAKAPUNA GUN CLUB. A large number of ladies attended a ladies' day shoot held by the Takapuna Gun Club at the club's grounds, Barry's Point, on Saturday afternoon. Members and repre- | sentatives from this "Warkworth, Metropolitan and Auckland Clubs took part in the three shoots which constituted the afternoon's programme. Although there was a tricky wind, good scores were registered. A ladies' bracelet event was won by Mrs. "VV. Ay ton, who drew Kay-Stratton. Mrs. McKenzie (C. C. Rae), was 2nd, and Miss Ayton (L. Henderson), gained third prize. Mrs. J. McGregor's trophy was won by L. J. Henderson with 11 birds out of 12 from the 115 yds mark. Following are the results:— Five Birds Sweepstake.—L. Henderson (14yds), J. McGregor (12yds), B. H. Bartley (15yds), Yf. Ayton (12yds), A. W. Collins (9yds), tied with four birds each. Instead of a shoot-off the contestants donated the proceeds of this event to the club's funds. Handicap Event of 12 birds, for a canteen of cutlery presented for open competition by Mrs. .T. McGregor.—A. V. Collins (11yds). L. J. Henderson (Ifijds), tied with one miss each. B. H. Bartley (16yds), J. Henderson (9yds), each shot ten birds and gained second place. In the shoot-off Henderson shot tho possible and Collins lost one bird. Match of ten birds, for a ladies' wristlet watch.—F. Kay-Stratton (15yds), L. Henderson (17yds), J. Grainger (9yds), F. Seccombe MSyds), C. C. Rae (18yds), each shot eight birds. In tho shoot-off. for the ladies' gold wristlet watch donated by Mr. F. Seccombe-, and cash orders donated by Messrs. M. Monjrar and J. JTcldt, Kay-Stratton proved the winner, wiOi C. C. Rae and L. J. Henderson second and third respectively.
