REBELS IN BURMA.
GRAVITY OF SITUATION. FIERCE CLASH WITH POLICE. TROUBLE NOW SPREADING. Dy Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received May 11, 8.45 p.m.) DELHI, May 11. Contrary to tho reassuring tone of earlier messages, week-end reports indicate that the situation in Burma is causing serious concern in official circles. in spite of the fact, that rebels have suffered numerous defeats at the hands of Government forces they show no disposition to lay down their arms, and tlio trouble is spreading. The police had a fierce encounter at Thayet-myo. a frontier military station, against, a force of 160 rebels who retired leaving 21 dead. There were no casualties among the police.
