HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. FAIR TO FINE. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:—The area of high barometric pressure is still located over New Zealand. Expect further fair to fine weather generally, with very (old nights, and frosts inland. Variable and moderate breezes, westerly to north-westerlies prevailing. Seas smooth to moderate. Local outlook: Fair to fine. Cold temperatures.

GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—An anti-cyclone moved on to New Zealand last night, but pressure is again falling in the South under the influence of the first of the series of westerly depressions advancing from Australia. Indications are for northerly winds becoming strong in and south of Cook Strait, moderate elsewhere. There will still be a considerable swell on the east coast, between Kaikoura and East Cape, but moderating, otherwise seas smooth to moderate, but rising later in Cook and Foveaux Straits. Freshening northerly winds and moderate to rather rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. The weather for most part will bo fine and milder, but cloud will increase in Westland and the far south, with showers developing there later. RAINFALL RECORD.
