MOTHER'S DAY.
OBSERVANCE IN AUCKLAND. Mother's Day was appropriately observed in Auckland yesterday. Apart from the important rally of young people at the Town Hall in the afternoon, many services were held in* churches in city and suburbs. At all these special meetings white flowers, as the symbol of the day, were in evidence. An address, "Honouring Mother," was delivered by the Rev. W. Walker in the evening at the Pitt Street Methodist Church and two special services at the Hereford Street Congregational Church were largely attended. The lip v. A. V. Whiting was the preacher. Suitable programmes of music were arranged at the Salvation Army observances at the Congress" Hall, Grey's Avenue, and at Ponsonby Road. Other services were held at tiie Y.M.C.A.-, Wellesley Street East, where Mr. G. Thornton presided at a meeting of young men in the afternoon, and at the Y.W.C.A. Queen Street.
