DISORDER IN GAOL.
ANZAC DAY DISTURBANCE. PRISONERS WRECK MACHINES. Disturbances at the Yatala labour prison in South Australia on Anzac Day and April 29 have been' reported to the Comptroller of Prisons. On April 29 prisoners wrecked five sewing machines in the tailoring shop. They were promptly locked in their cells. The cause of the trouble was the refusal by the authorities to permit games to be played in the prison yard on tho morning of Anzac Day. The regulations allow games only in the afternoons. Guard Norcock, who told the prisoners that the request to be allowed to play could not be granted owing to the regulations, was counted out, and when Superintendent Becker arrived on the scene and explained why play was not allowed ho was hooted. Several prisoners who weie charged with committing breaches of the regulations were brought before the visiting magistrate and ordered punishment. It i» understood that the disturbance on April 29 was in the form of a protest against tho punishment imposed.
