WAIPA ASSOCIATION., PROSPECTS FOR. SEASON. [FROM Otm OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AWAMUTU, Friday. The Waipa Hockey Association's annual meeting last evening attracted a record attendance, indicating keen interest in the season's prospects. The report stated that the association rw&ined possession of the White Horse Cup last season without losing a game, and after drawing with Hamilton the second match resulted in Waipa winning by 5 goals to 0. Seven Waipa players represented Waikato against Auckland. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr. C. G. Downes; president, Mr. C. A. Finch; vice-presidents, Messrs. G. 0. Jourdain, Finch, sen., G. Finch, jun., H. C. Rainey, C. <T. Spiers and G. S. Davis; auditor, Mr. W. McGivern; delegate to Waikato Association,. Mr. F. Craig; ground committee, Messrs. Spiers, Davis and M. Finch; selectors, Messrs. C. A. Finch, Spiers and Davis. The president was appointed co-selector for the Waikato representative team. Arrangements were made for the proposed visit of Rodney representatives to Te Awainutu on King's Birthday for tlio annual contest for the Waipa-Rodney Shield. Four teams were nominated for the Empson Cup competition, which commences next Wednesday. The prospect of challenging for the Norden Cup, at present held by Manawatu, was discussed, but there was a doubt whether such competition would affect Waipa's defence of the White Horso Cup and the executive was instructed to investigate and report. If a Southern trip was made probably matches will b® sought with Tarannki, Wanganui and Feilding en route, making a week's tour instead of the usual week in Auckland.
