CATTLE STAMPEDES.
DANCER AND REALISM. Charges of fakcry have never been made against scenes of stampeding cattlo in motion picture. When a Texas " Longhorn " paws at the ground, bellows, and puts his head down for the charge there is no pretence about it. Therefore unusual and extemo precautions for safety were taken for Richard '■Arlen s new Paramount western film, ''lho Conquering Horde," tho thrill of "which is provided by tho mad, ungovernable dash of a vast herd of cattle. Stockades were built for the cameras, and the best cowboys of tho west were assembled to lend assistance. In addition, a big stock of roman candles was laid by. Roman candles, fired over the heads of an oncoming, stampeding herd, can control it quicker than/,any other human agency. It remained for Hollywood to make this discovery.
