HOWICK INTERESTS.
BUS SERVICE TO CITY. In an effort to have a quicker and more frequent bus service introduced between Howick and the city, following the completion of (he concrete highway, a deputation of ratepayers- waited upon the Howick 'Town Board at its last meeting. It was urged that the bus company be approached to that end. The chairman, Mr. G. Bell, and Mr. L. V. Mclnness, were appointed to interview the company's representatives. The building inspector reported that new buildings erected and alterations carried out during the past year were valued at £15,400. The largest/work was the new brick Star of the Sea Convent, costing £IO,IOO. The resignation of a member of the council, Mr. L. H. White, was accepted with regret.
