MID-DAY SERVICES.
ADDRESS BY ARCHBISHOP. The first of a series of weekly mid-day services for business men was held in St. Matthew's Church yesterday, when there was an attendance of about 60. The service was conducted by Canon C. H. Grant C-owen, the speaker being Archbishop Avorill. The Archbishop emphasised the need of following the precepts of God, as without tho observance of His teachings the world would drift into moral and spiritual bankruptcy. The supporting of organised sport, on the Lord's Day, even if it were done under tho disguise of charity, was to be deprecated. Addresses at the services are being invited from ministers of other denominations. The speaker next week will be tho Rev. Lawson Marsh, of Dovonport. A half-hour organ recital will be given by Mr. J. H. Phillpot, the organist of the church, next week and at, the following servioes.
