After eluding the police, Nahas Pasha, with six members of the Wafd executive, motored to Beni Suef, 60 miles south of Cairo, and entered the house of a prominent Wafdist.
A crowd gathered and the polico fired while attempting to disperse the mob, killing eight persons and wounding 12 others. In the struggle 15 of the police were injured.
A message from Cairo on Friday said: —• Nahas Pasha, Mahniud Pasha and many of their followers broke through a police cordon at .Cairo station and in spite of broken heads boarded a train for Tan tab. intending to open a campaign of boycotting the elections. Tho police uncoupled the three carriages containing the agitators, ran them into a suburban station and then invited them to leave tho train. They refused to do so and tho train went on to the desert, where the party was marooned. The " joyriders " eventually left the train peacefully.
