YOUTH OF TO-DAY.
NO LONGER IGNORANT. A PREACHER'S MISGIVINGS. (Received May 4. 6.25 p.m.) LONDON. May 4. " Must a parent be dubbed a Puritan if he feels misgivings about the temptations involved in the new craze among young unmarried people of taking tramping holidays together ?" asked Father Francis Woodlock, preaching at the Jesuit Church, Farm Street, Mayfair, from which Father Bernard Vaughan used to denounce the Edwardian " smart set." Father Woodlock professed anxiety regarding the new freedom of the relations of the youth of both sexes, before whose eyes marital fidelity lias been displaced as either dull or comic.
Since the disappearance of Victorian ignorance everything depended on tho gill of to day. She, alas, was as much emancipated from rehgion as was hei boy friend.
The Rev. Francis Woodlock is Preacher and Lecturer at Farm Street Church. Jle was at Beaumont Collego and entered the Society of Jesus in 1889, and became a priest in 1903. In the war ho served as chaplain to the forces. Jle was born in Dublin 60 years ago.
