THE SUPREME COURT.
A HEAVY CALENDAR. The thirty cases that have been set down for hearing at the quarterly criminal sessions of the Supreme Court, commencing to-day, make the calendar the heaviest that has come before tho Court for some years past. Mr. Justice Uerdman and Mr. Justice Smith will conduct the trials, and this morning, while juries are being sworn in, prisoners who have pleaded guilty will be sentenced in the upper courtroom. Burglary, of which there are ten cases, is by far tho most common charge, and there arc also numerous charges of theft, false pretences and forgery. The criminal cases are expected to last a fortnight, and will be followed hv over sixty civil cases, of which the first 11 are to be tried by a judge and jury. The divorce cases set down already number over 90.
