WELCOME TO SAMOA.
THE NEW ADMINISTRATOR. STREETS GAILY DECKED. APIA, May 1. The new Administrator, Mr. IT. E. Hart, and his party landed on the flagbedecked wharf this morning to a salute of 15 guns. Mr. Hart was officially welcomed by the Deputy-Administrator, Mr. A. G. Turnbull, and present on the wharf were Chief Judge Luxford, the Secretary for Native Affairs, Mr. Mcßride, other officials and heads, and also the elected member of Council, Mr. F. W. Meredith, the native members Malietoa and Mataafa, and the full body of Faipule. The Administrator proceeded to Yailima, and on the way passed through two lines of children from Ifi Ifi and Mali fa schools. Each child waved a small Union Jack. The street was decked with streamers, flags and greenery. An arch of welcome bearing the words " Afio Mai " presented a charming picture.
Tho Administrator later attended a Samoan welcome function at Mulinuu.
