The report of the Dominion Convention of the W.C.T.U. held at Nelson recently was presented at a meeting of the Epsom organisation held at the home of Airs. Hernus, Belvedere Road. A scheme of work for the winter was discussed and tea was served.
A gift, afternoon in connection with St. George's Women's Society at Takapun.a was held at the residence of Airs. J. Buchanan, of Clifton Road. Takapuna. The parcels were opened by the president, Airs. Alorgan-Rirhards, and, following an amusing competition, tea was served.
A very successful social evening was held bv the Edendale Cricket Club on Saturday in Unity Hall, Covle Street, Sandringham. A iarge gathering of over 60 members and friends enjoyed a programme of dancing and competitions until midnight. Air. Beanlnnd. president of the club, made several presentations. Fielding trophies were presented to Messrs. R. Warren and A. Motion, and a handsome set. of cutlery was presented to Mr. and Airs. W. Earwaker as a wedding present from the, club.
Tho Devonport Croquet Club bold an afternoon at tlieh - lawns on '1 hursdav. Progressive croquet was played, the prizewinners being:—Miss Minnie Duder (A grade), Mrs. Angovc (B grade) and Mrs. llagen, tho hidden number. Luncheon and afternoon tea were served in the pavilion. Among those presnt were: —Mrs. Creagiriile (president), Mrs. Vnile, Mrs. It. Duder. Mrs. F. Prime, Mrs. J. Spicer, Mrs. Foster, Mrs. Seaton. Mrs. Pacey. Mrs. Swan, Mrs. Palairet, Mrs. C. Prime, Mrs. Burgess, Mrs. Angovc, Mrs. New--1 login, Mrs. W. Bailey, Mrs. Uagen, Mrs. Flynn, Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. Harty. Mrs. Robertson, Mrs. Ford, Miss Marks, Miss M. Dudor and Miss Patterson. The prizes were given hy Airs. Creagmile, Mrs. H. Bruce and Airs. Palairet.
