NEW RUGBY TIMEPIECE.
EDEN PARK INSTALLATION. An innovation which was greallv appreciated by l?,ugby football follow eis at Eden Park on Saturday was the use for the first time of an electric clock foi timing tho chief matches on tho oval each week. Donated through the generosity of Messrs. Carr and Hadley, Limited, the timepiece caused much interest. Situated in a frame-work adjoining the cricket score-board, tho clock is art imposing one, (he dial being 7ft. 2in. in diameter. It possesses an electric starting and stopping device, so that the time play has actually been in progress is recorded faithfully. The clock was officially started on Saturday by Mr. M. A. Carr, who stated that Auckland would have had a clock some time ago only for the fact that the local officials were considering ground alterations. Similar clocks were in use in Wellington and Dunedin. Mr. H. Frost, chairman of the management committee of tho Auckland Rugby Union, thanked the donors for their generosity, adding that ho felt, sure the innovation would be appreciated by patrons.
