FAREWELL TO MR. BRAMPTON. LITTLE THEATRE SOCIETY'S GIFT. A tribute to the work and to the personal qualities of Mr. Kenneth Brampton was paid in His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday evening at I lie close of a brilliantly successful season of the Little Theatre Society. Since 1927 Mr. Brampton has been the society's organiser and producer, but he is about to leave New Zealand this week to follow his profession in the Old Land. The very marked success of "A Bill of Divorcement," produced last week, has been regarded as the crown of his work for the society. The parting presentation, which was made to Mr. Brampton by Mr. K. I'. Leary, president of the society, took the form of a suede bound volume of mementoes of his association with the society. It contained an illuminated address of appreciation, gratitude and good wishes, in which tribute was paid to his integrity, courage and resource, his ability as an actor and his charm as a friend. The book also contained in addition to the signatures of committee members under the common seal of the Society, the signatures of some hundreds of members of the society, a score of portraits of prominently successful players in the society's ranks, ( and a list of the 23 plays Mr. Brampton has produced here. "One of our closest and dearest friends is leaving us to folloy his profession in other parts of the world." said Mr. Leary. The boast made four years ago that Mr. Brampton would work a revolution yi their midst had been fully carried out, lie. said. Artistically the society had gone from strength to strength, and the membership had risen from 350 to 1700 In returning thanks. Mr.'Brampton ro ferre.d to his association with the society as the four happiest years of his life, and said he would recall his friends here with genuine affection.
