NORTHCOTE FINANCES.
SURPLUS FOR PAST YEAR. The amount expended by the Nnrllicotc Borough Council for I lie year ended March 31 was £15,614. Of this total, £6-540 was for interest and sinking fund charges on the drainage and various road improvement loans, £1472 for water supply maintenance, £467 for refuse and sanitation services, £253 for refuse destructor operating charges. £768 for hospital and charitable aid, £312 for street lighting, £6O for Auckland Museum maintenance, £lO7 for fire brigade, £302 for plant, £3028 for street, maintenance, £933 for upkeep of main highways, £lls for reserves, and £1257 i for miscellaneous items. Receipts totalled £13,054, and outstanding revenue (excluding rates owing on Government properties) amounted tc £3735, leaving a surplus of £1175, to which has to be added -£6OO advanced pending the raising of the refuse destine"tor loan. Various donations, subsidies and lefunds, including £1250 unemployment relief wages, amounted to £1982.
