NEW PLYMOUTH INCIDENT.
CAR STRIKES POWER POLE. Lby telegraph.—own correspondent.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Friday. The greater part of New Plymouth, including 'the business portion,' was plunged into darkness for a short time early last night by an unusual mishap; A motor-car proceeding along Leach Street met another at an intersection and swerved and crashed into a pole. No one was injured, but the occupants had a miraculous escape, as the front portion of the car was literally bent round the post. The shock pushed the pole out "of line and the jar, beside? breaking the telephone lines, caused the guard wire under the high tension wires to fly up, creating a short circuit.
