EXTRACTS FROM THE HERALD.

The following are extracts from the New Zealand Herald of April "18, 1881:

The experiment made last year of exporting butter to England in hermetically sealed tins having proved successful, a further quantity is to be disposed of this year in the same mariner. Between April 7 and 13 the Bay of Islands Coal Company shipped 1236 tons of coal from its colliery at Kawakawa. The new Church of St. Sepulchre's, in Khyber Pass Road, is rapidly progressing and is expected to be ready for opening by May The church will be a very handsome one.

The police authorities have determined to have the legality of race sweeps tested by commtsncing proceedings against those ■who have' instituted and carried out Derby and Calcutta sweeps.
