Clive Brook, tho Paramount star, came to tho United States from England six years ago to appear in one film and has never returned.
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer . has acquired screon rights to Margaret Mayo's play, " Polly of tho Circus," a stage hit. Malcolm William and Mary Taliaferro were featured in the stage production.
Fate played an ironic trick with one of tho " stunt " flyers in tho Warner Brothers' picture, " Tho Dawn Patrol," which was shown in Auckland recently. The flyer was 11. S. McAllister, a noted pilot. After spending two weeks risking his life in fantastic manoeuvres for " The Dawn Patrol," McAllister was engaged bv tho president of an aeroplane company to fly him to New York. While making a normal landing, tho plane crashed and both were killed.
The first British racing picture "Kissing Cup's Race," is due tof release shortly. The stars in the film are, Madeleine Carroll, who has challenged the popularity of many of tho American actresses, John Stuart, Moore Marriott, Stewart Rome, Richard Cooper and Alexander Feild This is a dramatic version of Campbell Rao Brown's well-known racing classic.
Following his sticcesS with " Hell's Angels," Howard Hughes appears tojiavo another successful production in " Tho Front Pago," the recent New York present at ion of which saw all for (he Rivoli Theatre broken. " The Front Page " features among other notable players, Tat O'Brien, Mary Brian and Mae Clarke, and was adapted from tho similarly titled stage hit of some time ago. Lewis Milestone, director of " All Quiet 011 the Western Front, Iho Racket" and other big successes, is in charge. Tho picture will bo released by United Artists.
