Alfred Hitchcock, a director, at Elstree, the man responsible for " Enter Sir John," is bringing Galsworthy s play, " Tlio Skin Game," to the screen, litis play has been made into picture before. A typical English story of the clash of feudal and industrial interests in the countryside, " The Skin Game is full of rich characterisation and the conflict of opposing wills.
" Oblige a Lady " is a comedy specially written for Maisie Gay by Edgar Wallace, to be produced by the British Lion Companv. Miss Gay will take the part of a charlady, " Mrs. 'Arris," the part being essentially comedy. Mary Newland and Warwick Ward aro featured players, and direction is in the hands of Manning Ilayes. Maisio Gay was starred in Australia, in tho Williamson production of Noel Coward's revue, ' This Year of Grace." which toured in 1929. Recently she took over Sophie Fuckers role in tho London musical comedy, " Follow the Star." ■ An unusual film dealing with the life of the southern breed of penguin on a tiny rocky island in tho South Atlantic, has been taken by Cherry Kearton, the famous Nature photographer. Tho film, " Dassan," which takes its name from the island, has been shown with singular success .'it the Polytechnic Iheatio in Regent Street, London. Mr. Kearton doclares thflt there are over 5.000,000 penguins on the Dassan rock. His talking film " interviews " with these antusing birds are stated to provide pleasant entertainment off the beaten track to the usual cinema programmes. It is possiblo that " Dassan " will be released in New Zealand during the early part of th* year.
