THE REAL WOMAN.
A REMARKABLE FACT.
I have just discovered a very remarkable fact, says a writer—that a woman in the company of women is an entirely different personality from that which sho shows when in the company of men. So different is she, in fact, that a man coming silently upon her with a group of her women friends would, I am sure, recognise her from her voice and features alone.
Now this I should like to know: When is a woman herself ? Let me cite an individual case—the case, in fact, which led to my remarkable discovery. I havo known a .certain girl for years.
Sho liked poetry, music, good plays, and had little use for American films. The whole affair struck me as very remarkable, because we seemed to have so much in common.
Then a most astonishing thing happened. Seated by myself in a quiet corner of a restaurant I saw her come iri with three other girls. And they talked. It was the most banal conversation I had ever heard. So I came to the conclusion that I did not know that girl after all. Moreover, she is not an isolated case. Women have one and all got two sides to themselves; one for women and one for men. Which is the genuine one ?
