HUNDRED YEARS' FLAG.
MAULED DOWN IN LONDON
A flag which had flown for ICO years was hauled down for ever in London receutly. .At that moment ended an institution which was once the biggest business house in the British Empire. Shoolbred's, in Tottenham Court Road, ceased to ovist.
Mr. Best. the managing director, hauled the flag down. It was wrapped round a picture of James Shoolbred, the man who founded the firm in 1817. and sent to Colonel Shoolbred. Then for a whole week a fleet of motors carried the stock tf> Harrods, to whom tho business lias been sold.
"The staff have been wonderful since (lie news was broken to them," said Mr. llest. " Most of them are fixed up with new jobs. The ones who may be really up against it are.some of the old people behind the scenes—cleaners, packers, and so on, but I am doing all I can.
