AFTER 26 YEARS.
"SCOTS MARRIAGE" CONFIRMED. A " Scots marriage," which was celebrated by pledge in 1904 on Castle Hill. Edinburgh, was declared valid by Lord Merrivalo in the Divorce Court, London, this year. Mis. Margaret Grenville, now living in Hampshire, asked for a declaration that her marriage to Lancelot Yertner Grenville was a valid marriage. Air. Greuville was killed in an accident in July. 1928, ami the declaialien was required m connection with an insurance claim. It was staled that petitioner and Mr. Grenville went to Castle Hill, Edinburgh, on April 2. 1904, and, in the presence of a Mr. Cochrane and a Miss Cameron, they declared themselves man and wife. Air. Grenville gave petitioner a ring he had previously bought, and a note was made in his pocket-book (since lost) and was signed by the two witnesses. Later they established a home at Barry, and lived together continuously and brought up three children. The marriage was never registered. Tho president asked how long these people had been resident in Scotland at the timo of tho exchange of pledges. Counsel: Tho husband at least 21 days; the petitioner not at all.
