CROQUET AFTERNOON.
An afLernoon was given on Thursday by the members of the Devonport Bowling Green Croquet Club, for the four prizewinners who took part in the recent Auckbind tournament, and who arc also club members. Progressive croquet was played, the prizes, which were given by Mrs. Lowe and Mrs. Harty, being won by Mrs. Broughton and Mrs. Hartley; hidden numbers, Mrs. White (A grade), and Mrs. Tvlcljjiien (B grade). The tables in. tho pavilion vero decorated with autumntinted chrysanthemums and foliage, and during tea Mrs. CI. Newbegin (secretary), in tiie absence of the president, Mrs Cooper, congratulated the players on their success. Mrs. J. W. Lowe and Mrs. McLaren also spoke. Replies were made by MrS. 'Broughton and Mrs. While. Among those present were Mrs. Snoad, Miss Bees (Wellington), Mrs. McLean, Mrs. Lowe, Mrs. Connell, Mrs. Bruce, Mrs. Mason, Mrs. Newbegin, Mrs. White, Mrs. Warren, Mrs: Broughton, Mrs. Beck, Mrs. McDougall, Mrs. Cotes, Mrs. Salmon, Mrs. Watson, Mrs. Penrose, Mrs. BarLley, Mrs. Harty, Mrs. Jackman, Mrs. McLaren, O'Brien, Mrs. Melville, and Mrs. Griffiths.
