At a meeting of the Otahuhu Women's Christian Temperance Union, presided over by Mrs. Eccersall, a report of the recent Dominion Convention of the W.C.T.U., which was held at Nelson, was given L>y Mrs. W". Taylor. Later, afternoon tea was served.

The ladies of tho Ellerslie district were well represented at a gathering in tho Parish Hall on Thursday evening, when the opportunity was taken to farewell the Rev. 11. P. and Mrs. Stanton who are leaving to take up the charge at Otahuhu. Mrs. Stanton was presented with a bouquet by Miss Eunice Jensen. Among those present were Mesdamcs Mac Murray, Butler, and Hill, wives of visiting clergy.

Members of tho Rocky Nook Croquet Club were the guests of the president, Mrs. Tongue, at a very pleasant afternoon this week. Official visitors present were Mrs. Oswald, president of the Auckland Croquet Association; Mrs. Keesing, secretary; and Miss Brown, assistant secretary. Tea was served in the pavilion and at its conclusion a bouquet was presented to Mrs. Oswald, and a box of chocolates to Mrs. Tongue, oil behalf of tho club members. Progressive croquet was played, the winners being:—A: Mrs. McAneney and Mrs. Sinclair; B, Miss Falkner and Miss Read.

Mrs. L. S. Eickerby presided at the annual meeting of the girls' committee of the Victoria League. Members were congratulated by her upon their well-sustained activities (luring tho past year. Two of the most important were an entertainment by which the Returned Soldiers' Association benefited by £36, and a Violet Fair, held in the league rooms, which produced £35. About £IOO was spent in various activities. The reports of tho various circles were read and all showed increased interest. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —Chairman, Mrs. L. S. Rickerbv; honorary secretary, Miss Kathleen Aickin ; honorary assistantsecretaries, Miss Marjorie Cerutty and Miss Ruby Coleman; honorary treasurer, Miss Georgie McConnell.
