BANK CLERK ARRESTED.
EXTRADITION PROCEEDINGS. SOUTH AMERICAN CASE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] "WELLINGTON, Friday. , The long arm of the law was shown yesterday by the arrest of Duncan Stewart Reid, aged 28, a clerk, who is alleged to' bo a fugitive criminal from the South American Republic of Colombia.
It is stated he was a clerk in the Bank of London and South America at Barranquilla, and he is alleged to have embezzled a large sum of money. When proceedings wore taken to-day for his extradition lie was remanded pending the arrival of the extradition papers. It is believed he had booked his passage for Sydney to-day. He arrived a fortnight ago.
